I'm looking to buy a second home cinema system for the bedroom but as it'll be my secondary system I don't want to spend a fortune on it, somewhere in the range of £150 - £200, can anybody recommend summat?

For that price range you're probably best looking at second hand kit to get anything of reasonable quality. Alternatively try ebay...

Home cinema system... do you need a DVD player and a set of speakers?
Show/hide user stats
Yeah, I'm after a basic set up that'll incorporate dvd/cd and preferably a radio tuner as well as a few inputs in so I can link up my iPod. Because it's a second system I'm not to fussed by outstanding quality, more by a low price point. Cheers for theadvise Richard but I'd rather buy brand new, if thats possible at a low price?

Have a look at the Panasonic SC-PM39 (approx £250)or the Toshiba SD-44HK (approx £200) both of which get 5 stars in What HiFi and will probably fulfill your requirement

The Toshiba is exactly the kind of thing I'm after though its a little ugly.Is the panasonic just stereo or is it surround? I definately would go for it aesthetically but I need it to be surround.

I think its just stereo though it may be virtual surround sound(?) I was unable to find it on the UK Panasonic site - perhaps its been discontinued?

Here are a couple of other options that meet your budget

Phillips LX8300SA (£220) or Sony HTP 1200 (£230) both of which are true 5.1 systems.

Cheers Rich, I'm pretty sure I'll go for the Philips, but where did ypu see it for £220? I can't seem to find it that cheaply.

A bit above your budget brucie but this new Philips LX7500R is ace. Its a complete home cinema system with added dvd recorder all for £500

I saw the Phillips at "empiredirect" you might also find it in your local Richer Sounds.

Has anyone used Empire Direct before? I've heard of them, but don't know how reliable they are!
Show/hide user stats
I've used empire direct before, although only once, and the sevice was quick and efficient and the product was at a good price. So it's a thumbs up from me.

Hi is there any fully wireless home cine systems on the market...not just the rear speakers.
I have a wooden floor in the lounge and don't want to clutter it up with leads every were.
