Connect Arcam Amp To Tele!

I have LG LCD television and would like to use my Arcam A85 Amp for sound, but it will not work. My DVD player is connected to the amp with phono's and works fine with movies, but connecting the Tele through the Aux or any other line makes no differance. My problem is the sound on the LCD is awful and we have to have it very loud to hear. Anyone have any ideas, because the Tele manual is poor.

It could be one of two things. The cable connecting TV to amplifier is too long (unlikely) or you are connecting the input of the amplifier to a switched out output or input of the TV (more likely).

If the phono leads are over 13m long or are long and very very tightly coiled, the resistance or the inductance (respectively) of the cable will get in the way of the sound. Move the amps closer, or uncoil the cable.

It's more likely to be the TV end. Check the back of the set to see if the phono sockets have a plastic logo with an arrow pointing in or out of the little circle. If it's out, it should be fine; if not, not. Assuming this is okay, check the manual or the manual to see if there is an audio output option on the menu.

Thanks for the info, but I have spent a long time searching the internet and found that my Scart cable connected from my Sky box to my Tele has video and sound. My local Maplin store seem to think that this was the problem and gave me a Scart Intersert which plugs into the Sky box, you then plug your Scart into it, and built into it is some phono outputs which you connect your phono from your amp to. This is so when the sound comes out of your Sky box it goes up the phono leads instead of the scart to your TV, thus problem solved!
Thanks for your help!
