Sharp LC-42XD1E does it have HDMI 1.3 ? there is a US version of the screen i think and it has web whispers that it has hdmi1.3.
just curious as i will be getting other HD hardware (AV amp with HDMI switching) in the furture and want to make sure i am not going to fall into and 1.2 1.3 hdmi trap. also may add a Sony PS3 to it and that has HDMI 1.3.
and we all know Sony if they have a DRM feature they can use they probably will.... :S
Please help me i have bein a fan of sony tvs for a long time now i was just ready to depart with my hard cash for the sony bravia 40inch w series when i heard that they was better lcd screens on the market for less money the sharp aquos lc-42xd1e or the new samsung 40inch le40m87bdx which are both full hd 1080 but the sony is not????? please help me make the right decision either the sony, sharp or the samsung.
wel i love my shape screen its great nice color good blacks. and the reds are nice as well. but i guess it all depends on the sourse the the image is coming from, stand def tv id good, but on some channels it terrable like 4more channel for instance!!!! watching a program last night (hostage or kidnapped..something like that) really bad. but at other times it a great screen. the surround on the screen is nice to look at as will not of the distracting silver of some screens. connects to my pc really well as well. a bit od messing about in the menu's but after that great. (oh and windows drivers are wierd) i use the standard windows driver for the correct native res on the panel and that works great. hdmi is easy to use. plug and play. oh and there is a stero output of audio as well, a really cool feature for thoes like me that do not have a digital optical amp.
The stand the tv comes with is good as well. well it what i am using as wall mounting was difficult. but it works really well and sits happyly on top and an ikea low shielf thing.
oh the built in speaker as you would expect are not great, there done have the needed pressance and feel a little lost with such a nive big screen.
hope this help. if you do get one i done think you will regret it, and i guess just under a grand you cannot go to far wrong. :)
yeah, me too, always been a fan for sony, but i know sony always had sound issues!!! sharpe is very good, i have 20" lcd at home for the kithcen, and it is brilliant. mccallum, go for the sharp, you won't regret it, and its about time you shelled out for one, all this talk and no action!!! by the time u decide, there will be another model out!!!!!
My boy accidently hit the screen of my new sharp aquos LC52XD1E exactly in the middle. Three bright green lines were then permanently seen once the TV is on. Is there anything can be done to solve this? Unfortunately I didnt buy an insurance for it.
i bought this tv around march 2007 - and on the whole its great...
connected to the pc at the highest resolution (using a dvi to hdmi lead) - the picture is awsome.
I have not hooked up HD tv reception on it yet apart from HD video from the pc..
There are a few points i want to raise.
1) the analogue and digital tv (freeview) works in completely different ways (there is even a different tv menu for each!)
2) when watching a drama - and there is a dark room, the actors seem to "lag" in the picture ....like if the refresh is very poor - having spoke to Sharp today about it - they say it should not do that, and getting an engineer to see the problem.
3) the speakers are good enough for standard tv watching - but if you are going to get a tv like this - you are bound to get a 5.1 amp!
