Hi, does anybody have any experince with these tiny amps. I've just built some speakers with fostex full range drivers, they a back horn design and very efficent.
(Type PAWO speakers into google to see some pictures etc). I,m currently using an old Rotel 820 ax amp, is it worth upgrading ? thanks

I've had loads of experience with T amps and if you mean the Sonic Impact ones; yes, Fostex horns would be perfect.

As an alternative, I'd have a look at the Trends Audio version of the T amp. It's also Tripath based, generally better made and has superior socketry. It's reputed to be more reliable. Roughly US$120 since the design was upgraded.

The first thing that you do with these things is usually to upgrade the power supply. Some people take the Sonic Impacts up to 13.8v although my view is that that will lead to unreliability. Don't connect a sub to the speaker sockets as this sort of amp tends not to like it if you common the earth.

Thanks Chris, I,ve already found the Trends audio amp on the net, but its not avilable in the UK also an uprated version of the sonic T called the Super T its in a smart box ! New wine audio (USA) did a clone of the sonic T and now a more powerful version at $1500 ! I'm nervous about buying from abroad can I source one from the UK? Why are UK manufacturers and suppliers so slow on the uptake of this technology ?

The Sonic Impact doesn't have an official UK supplier as far as I know (I hope to be corrected). I've only seen them on Epay.

A lot of these things have switch mode power supplies that aren't fussy about voltage so they do sometimes work here without mods.

I think they're too cheap for anyone here to make money.

Recently built up a complete amplifier using a Tripath 100W PC module from Italy. [www.autocostruire.com] Cost about £70, delivery about 3 days, performance - well I could write a book - in short stunning, suptle, delicate but powerful.
Using my own supply, toroid and big caps all in a little case from the same company.

The best overall sound I have heard since valve & vinal..
