Hi guys, please can someone help me, i bought a matching samsung lcd tv and htib and cannot get the tv sound to play through the surround speakers. Two questions: 1 Is this possible? 2 How?. The tv model number is le32r87bdx and the htib number is ht-xq100. I have currently just got it set up with a hdmi cable from tv to htib main unit. All help gratefully appreciated.

Often you need to enable the hdmi sockets through the tv and amplifier menus. Have you done this?

i havent done that but i cant see how you do. However, i can listen to a dvd without a problem its just broadcast tv that i cant seem to get.

I assume that the htib is a combined amplifier/cd/dvd player with speaker output sockets. In this case there are no further connection wires required to play a cd/dvd. What you are trying to do I think is use the tv as a sound source for the htib. You therefore need an output from the tv either analogue out or digital for example hdmi to carry the tv sound to the htib. If the tv has an hdmi socket it should be enabled through the tv setup menu available on your remote control. Similarly the htib will have a setup menu where the hdmi socket should be enabled.

Thank you for your help. I think i might have cracked it - an optical cable could be the answer. All 3 hdmi sockets are inputs and i cant find anything in the menu to alter this. However, the tv has an optical out and the htib has optical in so, surely thats the answer! Now got to go and buy one - will let you know if this solves problem.
