I'm a complete newbie to this forum malarkey so please excuse me if I've posted in the wrong area. I've just bought a Pioneer PDP427XD and I can't fault the picture or sound. I was looking at another AV site earlier and the term "Dirty screen" kept appearing, what does this mean?.Also I've heard that you should adjust some of the settings for a period of time when new. Could someone please tell me what do I have to adjust and for how long?. Any help would be received gratefully.

hi steve, never heard of the term dirty screen before, but it could be something to do with 'burn in' which plasma screens can suffer with, it means any permanant image on the screen if viewed for long periods can ghost onto the screen even when you change the channel, like the sky sports logos, ceebeebies and the like, alot of new screens recognise this and move the image around the screen but only by very small amounts so you dont visably notice it. the bit about changing some settings also sound like garbage, some people cant help themselves and start adjusting settings thinking it is for the good, my opinion is when you spend over a grand for a tv it shouldn't need adjusting, and if it does send the thing back, i have a samsung 32 and i havntaltered a thing on it and its still perfect 6months later

Thanks Andrew,I think you're right about the settings thing, over the last few days I've visited this other forum and I get the impression that the "clicky" few are anti Pioneer and all very anal. Personally I love the pioneer TV and the picture is brilliant and I haven't even got an HD source yet. Think I'm gonna have to wait for that, the wife is starting to hint that it's holiday time and it's about time we spent some money on her hobbies for a change.

Once again thanks for the advice.

Steve
