I just picked a Yamaha CR-600 stereo receiver power amplifier. The volume/sound is great if I plug a CD player into AUX or Phono but if I plug my turntable into the same connections the volume is barely audible..............would anybody know why??? Cheers Johhny

Hey Johnny... I am having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what the problem was? ~ Good luck ~ Carly

It sounds like the amp perhaps has no Phono pre-amp built-in to it. (incidently, NEVER plug a CD or Tuner or other Line Level device into the Phono) It could also be you have a moving coil cartridge on your turntable. --

Try an off board phono stage from the likes of Pro-Ject. Plug the turntable into the phono stage and then connect the phono stage to the AUX input. The phono stage raises the output level of the turntable to the same level as say a CD player.
