Hi there all i've just bought myself a Sony KDL37P302 LCD TV along with a Sony DAVDZ230 HTK home theatre system.

Now i have the system all set up correctly and have a HDMI connecting both, what i have a problem with is getting the sound from my new TV to come out the cinema system the DVD sound comes out the speakers perfect.

I have only 2 leads that connect the tv obviously one is the AV and the other is HDMI, i've read the instructions fully over and over. 

Obviously the TV has many audio outputs but the cinema system only has one input connection left which is a Digital Media Port, so its obvious thats what i have to use.  With this i went back to Currys and asked them if they had a wire i could connect and was told they had never heard of it.

Could any of you give me any clues how am going to get this sound to work?

You should have a digital optical input  (toslink) on your 5.1 system; perhaps that's what you refer to as a digital media port ?

Whether or not you have a digital optical output on your TV or not is less certain; if you don't then you won't be able to output the TV sound via your 5.1. The alternative would be to find a freeview box with such an output (I assume that's what you are watching) or get a Sky + or Sky HD box which definitely have it.

I also have bought the Sony DVDVZ230 and am puzzled as to how I go about connecting it to the Tv (Phillips 26in Flat screen) so that I can get sound from TV (freeview) to play through the surround speakers. Currently I have it all going through the SCART but really want to put the picture through a HDMI lead to get HD (almost) picture. Do I leave the SCART plugged in to feed the sound? Or is there some other way?

 Also if anyone knows how to connect a video Ipod to this system it would be appreciated.

The sound from the Tv or Sky or Freeview ..into the Z230..is only via the Scart.

Press Function repeatedly on the remote...it`ll show on the units display..DVD..FM..TV..." ta..ra !"

Remember to change your input selection on the TV to get the picture that goes with the sound your now hearing.
