I'd like to know if there's a way of obtaining surround sound from Sky Plus using my Technics SH-EH760 hi-fi (which does have the surround speakers and centre voice speaker). The amp on the hi-fi doesn't have an optical input - just the usual phono ones and the DVD 6CH input. There is an option on the amp input for AUX input and VCR input (whether that helps at all).
I used to have it all set up via scart to phono connections but since moving house a while ago I haven't got round to setting it up again. Now that I have Sky Plus I was wondering what the best set up method would be.
I'd also like to connect my LG DR275 DVD recorder into the set up too so I could get surround whislt watching DVDs.
If your surround amp has digital coaxial input, you can buy a converter to convert from optical to coaxial, you will find them on - link: http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk you may find that the amp may have only one coaxial input so consider buying a double optical connected converter for use with DVD player and sky to amp ? if not you will have to stick with stereo via phono plugs?
Hi James,i,d agree with with Carl on this point, though you could use a scart to phono connection for your surround sound, but personally i,d stick to stereo............Dave
