Hi has anyone heard the consonance cd120 linear.

I compared it to the arcam cd73t, cambridge 640c v2 and Marantz sacd7001. I found the consonance more musically involving, it had a deeper soundstage, more open and natural fuid analogue type sound especially the midrange.

How does this player compare with the Rega Apollo CD Player which is almost the same price did you or anyone make this comparison??

Did you happen to hear the non linear unit also? There are two versons of the CD120.

I am also wondering how either of these compare to the Apollo...

Hi,

I have not compared the consonance cd120 linear to the Rega Apollo on my system. However I did listen to the Rega Apollo in a shop comparing it to other cd players (Arcam, Marantz, Creek Evo). I would say from memory the Rega Apollo  had a more open airy sweet top end, leaner more mellow sound than the consonance. The consonance is probably more richer, dynamic and a more solid bass. I probably say I preferred the consonance midrange as well. It comes down to personal preference. I also like the Rega Apollo, it made the music enjoyable however I thought it lacked a little in bottom end punch.  I have read reviews where people have chosen the consonance over the Rega Apollo, however it is probably about system matching.  I have talked to a dealer who sold both and they said, if you want a sweeter more mellow sound go for the Rega Apollo, if you want a more dynamic more livelier yet natural analogue type sound, go for the consonance.  In  regard to the other version consonance ed120 (24/192) I have not heard it.  It is more expensive, I have read over the internet, the linear version is more analogue and musical and a little more laid back.  The consonance cd120 linear is so musical I can listen for hours without fatigue.  I hope this answers your questions.

Regards,

Steve.
