I have almost no knowledge of "new" media - even my TVs are so old they don't have SCART sockets, and I have yet to embrace DVD over video. I do like good music though, and have a quite good Sony "Q" system bought around 2000 or thereabouts for somewhere north of a thousand pounds, driving some KEF C60 speakers, which suit me. I think there are better ones available now, but....
Now my problem. Someone just kindly gave me an iPOD nano 8GB, a product of which I have virtually no knowledge. But 8GB seems not a lot of power to me, where other iPODs go up to 160GB. I have a "short" window of opportunity to take the receipt to the Apple shop and trade up or sideways, if something else iPOD is (generally) better.
A key issue for me is how I can use the thing. I hate headphones of any kind, and walking around with music doesn't do it for me, so the only real use I can see for an iPOD is to bring music easily to my car. Has anyone experience of the quality of reproduction achieved by one of the iPOD through cassette devices I have seen,where a "cassette" is stuck into an existing car stereo?
Finally, and I am sure this will seem a dumb question, can an iPOD be linked up to a conventional amplifier through some form of wire, hooking into phono or Aux sockets or something like that. And if so, where can such be bought? Or is one otherwise stuck with having to buy some form of docking station to get any noise out of the thing that doesn't involve sticking stuff in your ears....
