Hi all,

New to the forum so a bit hello first of all. A loaded question this, but I'm pretty set of the Arcam solo as an all-in-one for the kitchen but want to know which speaker people would recommend to marry up with it. I don't want floorstanders and ideally would prefer bookshelf or wall bracket suitable types. Considering the Diamond 9.1s as regardless of the cost everyone seems to love them, but is there anything else you;d recommend. Is going as high as £1000 complete overkill for the Arcam?

Thanks in advance.

And please forgive all the typos. Heavens.

Welcome on-board Jullian! Arcam has just released speakers specifically designed to compliment the Solo system - the Alto. £399 a pair - is that in your price range??

Thanks Al, and this is well within my price range. Has anyone had a listen to them? Any reviews out there yet?

Here's an observation which will need clarifying. Don't you think the Arcam Alto's look very similar to Audiovectors K1 model? Take off the Audiovector badge at the top and it is the spitting image! The current WHF issue reviews a silver pair - should work well with the Solo.

Jullian,

If I were you I'd go for the matching Arcam Alto speakers.

I've heard the two together and they are stunning. It's something I could live with very happily indeed.

I'm of the school that believes it's best to spend more on speakers than other components - I just think a they make so much more difference to the overall sound.

I'm also thinking about an Arcam Solo but I'd prefer floorstanders to get, in my opinion, a fuller, more natural sound. Due to space considerations, they'll need to go quite close to a the wall.

Any suggestions?

Ultimately I went for the AVI Neutrons. I listened to the Alto's and wasn't bowled away by any means. The AVIs were in a league of their own. Now speakers and solo get on very well. Very happy with both purchases.

Cheers,

Julian
