Has any one tried the Sonic Impact T amp Im using mine for about 3 weeks with a 3 year old dvd player and 100£ speakers and im shocked at the sound quality. Any tips on how to make this 35$ wonder sound even better would be more than welcome

Hi John, is that a portable amp? I think I've read about it somewhere and was amazed by how tiny it was! Did it really only cost you 35 dollars??
|
 |
Dan Theres not a pound weight in this amp It sounds fantastic It can be bought for less 15$ or so on the net Heres a lead that will fill you in on where to buy it ,power supplies, and a stereo adapter etc By the time you sort out everything you might spent 60 dollars http://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/t-amp_e.html I hope this helps John

Wow, that's seriously cheap! Might make for a useful extra amp around the home. How powerful is it BTW?

im using 6ohm 89db missions and at 12 o clock its plenty enough for me try more efficent speakers if not. my main amp is a classe ca300 power with monitor audio gr60s

That does seem ridiculously cheap so it's brought out the skeptic in me, can anybody else vouch for the quality of this amp? (sorry john not that I don't believe you but a second opinion is always good!)

Impressive, and for about £20 on ebay I pretty tempted to give it a try. I came across another review too:

I've got a pair of them and bi-amped them in to LS3/5a speakers.
There are some stories of unreliability but we're only talking £20-30 apiece so there's not much risk.
They compared well to my £2k amp although definitely did not beat it and lacked bass extension.
The big advantages are that is has a very low noise floor and a very wide sound stage. It's a nice listen with classical and jazz. It also uses very little electricity and has a good clean top.
One thing that I think helps reliability is if you use a 12v power supply rather than the 13.8 volt unit that some are using.
Some of the cognoscenti are also using the TEAC three channel tripath digital amp which is more expensive but has better connections.

Hi christopher. Ive also a pair but Im completley lost as how to bi amp them Any help would be more than welcome. Do i need a passive preamp? Thanks john.

I did use an active preamp (Tag Mclaren) with the volume on the T Amp turned right up. I've seen some comments saying an active preamp helps - I used it because it was there and had two sets of connections to the power amp. I didn't experiment.
You could make up a lead with two RCA going to two 3.5 MM stereo jack plugs as an alternative but adjusting the volume so that the balance is right between woofer and tweeter is fiddly.

Hi there, Where did peeps get their power adaptors from?
Very excited to say I've ordered a Sonic Impact T-Amp from ebay which should arrive in the next few days, but I can't find a power supply to buy on the net which fits the bill perfectly.
Any advices gratefully received. Cheers, Karl

I just used a 12v from Maplin with interchangeable adapters. Make sure you get the polarity right.
I suspect that people who have reliability probs do so because they use 13.8v adapters.
Also make sure you switch them on with the switch on the front rather than directly from the mains as that helps longevity.

Christopher , I got my power supply and phono adapter from Maplins but then i changed to a 13.8v regulated supply also from Maplins. Sound quality was the same but at least when I get around to biamping I will be able to use the one supply One question Christopher, when I bi amp, what way should I connect the phonos from the preamp to the sonic impacts phono imputs?
