Starting up an open mic night, so want to buy pa speakers. Want powered ones but cant choose between PEAVEY pro 12 or 15, ALTO PS4, or WHARFDALE EVP 15. All about the same price (ALTOs slightly more wattage - 400w), but wanna make sure I'm getting a quality product. May want to use them for more than just open mic, eg. future band gigs etc, so also need versatility. Dont know much about the technical stuff so need people's opinions on which has the best sound. Would go for the Mackie 450s, but they're too pricey. Ideas anyone??

I only have a little experience in P.A. products, but I know that companies like JBL, RCF and EV sell full range systems for as little as 300 Pounds for a 450 Watt full range speaker with horn and two 15" bass drivers. Its amazing value for money, make sure you give it a look if you are going to aim beyond open mic.

Anyhow, as I said, not really my area of expertise. I'm sure others, far wiser than I, will enlighten you!

A friend of mine's band have Alto's though I can't remember which model, I'll try to find out for you. They do the job perfectly for pub gig's etc, so if that's the kind of scale you're looking at they should work well.

I have P.A Speakers which have half-inch jacks with parallel input. What cable do I use to connect to a powered mixer. I know one side will be + and the other - on the speaker but the end that goes into the mixer does it matter if it is a mono or stereo cable.
