Hi Jaime, just done a quick search to see if anything came up and there appears to be no such product as samsung sp50h7lx! Did you get the code wrong?

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply you're right i gave the wrong code. its SP50L7HX this is a dlp rear projection pedestal tv..i would like to know the optimum settings needed for the best looking picture..the default settings aren't cutting it. Many Thanks Jamie

Wow thats one nice looking t.v. Regarding the contrast settings thats something that can be dependent on the individual and even the room your in. personally I usualy set brightness and contrast with simple guidelines: that black looks truly black on the screen, not grey, and that white looks white not creamy. If these two colours are in check I usually find the rest fall in to place and it gives me optimum performance. Just have an experiment and enjoy what is a fine, fine television.

My problems sorted it wasn't the tv it was the fact that I was sitting too close to it, now moved it with the help of a friend to its final siting position and the picture is fantastic, as I expected it to be.

Thats what I like to hear Gary so thats one out of two sorted. But the question is how are you getting on Jamie?

I imagine you have the TV hooked up to a DVD player - if you have any THX certified disks, they sometimes have a menu to set up the picture to it's optimum contrast, brightness, sharpness etc for your room. Worth a shot, though a bit long-winded.

Using a THX disk is a good starting point, but do bear in mind that although this will definitely set up your Display for that disk, (and generally for anything from that DVD player) you may find that those settings are not the best for other sources.
(Freeview box etc.)
If your TV has multiple presets, you can try setting them up individually for different inputs.

hi ppl
have you tried changing the gamma settings in the service menu?
you do this by having your set on standby and pressing in quick succession info-menu-mute-power
go to option 10 (gamma) you need to change it to 0 or 1 whichever you prefer.
the rest of the settings are:
mode - standard
colour tone - normal
contrast - 70
brightness - 43
sharpness - 50
colour - 43

these are my settings and it changed my picture totally.
