Hi,i was wondering if someone could help me with purchasing speaker cable.I don't want to pay alot but still want a good quality cable for the money.I know it would be wiser to pay out that bit extra to get back but at this moment in time i have to settle for the cheaper option.I also don't know much about bi-wireable,i don't have any knowledge on this,so if someone can help me here it would be most appreciated, cheers.

Have a look at this thread for some info and opinions on bi-wiring. As for the cabling it is not really necessary to spend a massive amount to get good results, after a certain point the differences become far more trivial. I.e. a cable that costs 2 per meter will be greatly inferior to a cable that costs £20 per meter, but a cable that costs £200 will not be the same leap in quality over £2 vs £20 cable. I hope that makes sense!

What kind of budget are you looking to allow?

I'm looking at a price range of about between 10 to 20,can't really afford anything more expensive than that at the mo,and thanks for your help!

I was reading reviews for the particular model speaker i'm purchasing and it had this to say.....(With each successive change, the imaging tightened up, the details improved, the frequency extremes opened up, and the dynamics were more punchy & snappy. What this says to me is that if you are going to go with simple cabling, that bi-wiring is better and that 10 gauge wire works better.)So if this is any help in finding the desired cable on a budget for this model speaker would be great, any pointers will be more than welcome, cheers!

If bi-wiring is the option you plan to take then you could do worse than QED Silver Anniversary Bi - Wires, it's a very respected line of cables and you can buy them at hi-ficables.co.uk for £7.45 p/m. Good quality cables at a pretty cheap price you can't really go wrong!

I'm about to get me sum QED Silver Anniversary Bi - Wires, looks like they will do the job nicely, thanks alot for the help, cheers!

Sorry about the delay in responding but i had to wait for my speakers to be delivered. The cable was great, the sound is really crystal clear, the only thing i seem to be missing is alittle extra bass.I don't know if thats because of the amp i'm using or the way ive set it up,this is what i'm trying to find out at the mo,thanks again for your help and advice it's much appreciated.

The lack of bass is down to your cable! i switched away from qed, to van den hul teatrack, far, far superior, and it doesnt strangle the bass !!

Silver anniversary is a bass killer although it is good.

So i'm looking for an all round good quality cable that do not take anything away from the bass and is affordable, the van den hul teatrack sounds like a good choice, any more comments on this cable or others like it would be more than welcome, thank you very much for your help!

Cat 5e network cable from Maplin part number VB20W
Van Den Hul CS122
QED Qudos (not the silver)
DNM Reson
Any of the Kimber Kables from www.russandrews.com

Basically, copper gives you warmth and silver gives you brightness.

one really good one is this;

http://www.mapleshaderecords.com/tweaks/audiocables_main.php

It's cheap and excellent. Also, you buy with dollars so the exchange rates should help.

I have 2x2 metres of the Teatrack that im currently holding for a guy to obtain a cheque book from his bank so he can pay me, its been ongoing for rather a long time now, if it falls through would you be interested? cost me £100 terminated, sell for half price. Currently wired "shotgun " mode ie, both sets of cables into 2 plugs , not 4 as for biring, but i will include the plugs to revert back into biwire. Let me know.

I've got VDH CS-122 cable. This is an absolutley superb cable. The difference is noticable even though i'm not an audiophile (if that makes sense). I suggest if you are considering bi-wiring to do it properly. In my opinion you are better off buying a higher quality single version of a cable rather than a normal bi-wire speaker cable. Just my opinion hope it helps.

Just to add, the Teatrack is the biwire version of the cs 122.
