New iPod next week?
Apple have announced an event entitled 'One More Thing' on October 12th. Geeks and Apple fanboys everywhere are breaking into sweats and bursting blood vessels trying to guess just what will be announced.

I'd quite like the iPod video to be a reality but I think it's very unlikely. There is no structure in place for an itunes style video store so they'd probably not think it to be maxiumumly profitable at this stage.

That said if it was a reality the design I'd favour would keep the same size as the current ipod but move the clickwheel to the back, leaving the front for a full size widescreen. Anybody agree?

It's a slightly smaller version of the full sized Ipod with an 80Gb hard disk. Some speculation about other colours because of the favourable reception that the black Nano received.

Although some functionality for selling videos is in Itunes, I would expect more development before they go with the video version.

The chances are that there would have been leaked pictures of a video ipod.

Now this is quite interesting; it looks like the BBC has accidentally broken the embargo on the announcement. Apparently it COULD be a video Ipod after all.

The only thing we can safely say is that we'll know on the 10th. Apple is notoriously tight lipped with these things so we wouldn't necessarily have seen a leaked photo - we didn't for the nano.

The thing with the internet rumours is they're often way off the mark - thinksecret says it can 'confirm' what the announcement will be due it's sources, but there's every chance Apple have planted sources to drum up interest or throw away from the scent - the titling of the event as 'one more thing' is similarly suggestive and hints toward a bombshell.

I for one hope there is a video iPod complete with a iMovies store ready to go on the 12th, we'll soon see.
