the actual AV Amp that I have is a Harmon Kardon 7300, although old now and no HD stuff it sounds pretty good. I have being toying with the idea of upgrading at somepoint though.

But if the amp doesnt recognise HD audio so the Denon 1940 which i use as a DVD player) outputs the same currently as the PS3, the only advantage would be when I got a HD enabled AV Amp... wouldnt it?

I have the fat PS3 too, it seems to send DD5.1 and DTS to my Amp fine, but are you saying th emovies are visually smoother/better on the S370 than on the PS3?, I already have a DVD player that upscales so I only use the PS3 for BR only

I have a PS3 and I use it as my only blu-ray player. I connect to the TV using HDMI and the AV Amp using optical as the AV Amp is old and doesnt have HDMI or any of the HD Audio ability, but I really want to know if the PS3 is any good as a blu-ray player. I see BR players advertised and they vary in price form the £100 Sony up to a silly money Denon, but will a Denon (for example) play a BR disc any better than a PS. On top of this if I upgraded the amp to one that did have HDMI connection/audio ability would a stand alone BR player be any better there too. Steve |

I bought the dock connector and wow what a difference, about 200% better than through the headphone jack, the only downside is taht the clip is really short and you cannot clip it onto a jacket, but the sound quality is superb.
