Interesting article 'n all but are there any cheaper alternatives to the shown switch boxes? Say just a small little HDMI input doubler, not some great big box!
I only have the one HDMI input on my tele (I know, the shame!) that's currently occupied by Sky HD. I recently picked up a budget upscaling DVD player for sub £100, so you can see why I don't really want to be spending £200+ on an HDMI switcher!
Any help much appreciated. |

Ah, this is a problem we've all suffered/suffer. I actually bought a cable tidy from one of those Betterware catalogues that are forever coming through the post and usually contain absolute crap! Fortunately this was an exception to the rule.
Take a look here: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Cable_Accessories_Index/Cable_Tidy/ |

Like foneman says the main drawback is not being able to listen whilst setting up or recording.
However, when it comes to sound quality there are a number of 'jack of all trades' players (dvd,cd,sacd, dvda) that perform brilliantly on all accounts. For example Denon's DVD-A1XV |

| Maybe you should consider one of the dedictaed ipod speaker/amp systems, they all come in at around £250. I've heard the i-deck(monitor audio) and the Bose one in action and they both sound excellent. |
