Fatman has expanded its excellent valve-based iPod amp range with the latest incarnation of the iTube, the Red-i.
Not only has the Red-i undergone a fairly drastic restyling in comparison to its older siblings, but it has had a boost in the sonic stakes too, with power output ramped up from 13W to 25W per channel.
Not only does the Red-i offer full remote control of your Pod, but it is one of the first products to meet Apple's stringent regulations to achieve the company's 'works with iPhone' standard, which means phone signals looking for a home won't constantly ruin the sounds of whatever tune you're listening to with that infuriating 'dah-da-da-dah-da-da' interference.
Connectivity includes dual line-ins for hooking up, say, CD player and non-Apple MP3 player or the like, and the inclusion of two 'visually enticing' stereo speakers makes the sizeable price much more justifiable.
The Fatman iTube Red-i is available from September for not much less than £400.
