Atlas Cables Equator 2

By Duncan Madden

Atlas Cables Equator 2

Scottish cable specialist Atlas Cables has introduced the Mark II version of its award-winning Equator loudspeaker, the Equator 2.

The new cable retains the Z plug 4mm connectors from the last model, but apparently has an improved construction with superior materials.

Each cable houses two conductors comprising seven bundles of 36 fine pure OFC copper wires, with each conductor covered by a low-loss foamed polyethylene dielectric. A sheath of pearl white soft PVC gives an overall diameter of 8.5mm.

Designed to make a 100 per cent contact within the 4mm female socket, the connectors are made from copper and cold-welded to the cable conductors under pressure to amalgamate the conductors to the plug in an airtight seal.

The Equator 2 will retail at £8.50 per metre with the Z-plugs an extra £6 each.
