There's nothing better than huge great floorstanders in the living room to impress your mates, and Canton's elegant Ergo range has been the audio trophy in many a lounge for over 20 years now. 2006 sees a totally revamp, featuring completely new Canton
built drive units and crossovers (sourced from Canton's expensive
high-end Vento line) as well as the most significant improvements
in the Ergo cabinet design in over 20 years.
The Ergo 609 DC (£1300 a pair) and Ergo 611 DC (£1600 a pair) three-way bass reflex floorstanders are designed as a dedicated stereo pair or as front speakers for serious home cinema. The 611 DC features two 9in black aluminium cone woofers and the smaller 609 DC, a pair of 8in woofers. Both models include the same 7in aluminium midrange and 1in
aluminium-manganese dome tweeter used throughout the line.
The (relative) baby of the range, the Ergo 607 DC (£1000 a pair), uses one 7in aluminium cone for bass and one for midrange and can be used as a stereo pair or as the front left/right in a medium sized cinema room. All other features are the same as the 611 and 609.
If you want more Ergo, then you'll be glad to hear the range will shortly be extended to cover smaller rooms and full home cinema set-ups, with the 605 CM centre speaker, 603 and 602 compact speakers, 601 Low Profile On-Wall speaker and the AS 650 SC powered subwoofer.
