Cycling the interweb for a while now has been rumour of a mysterious PS3 add-on device, and now Sony has confirmed that it will launch a gadget that turns your PS3 into a digital video recorder.
Arriving in Europe sometime in the first half of next year, PlayTV as it's been called will host dual TV tuners so you can record one Freeview channel and watch another, alongside a seven-day EPG.
Storing recorded info on the PS3's hard drive, you can access and watch what you want when you want on your TV and your PSP. Via Wi-Fi you'll also be able to watch live TV and record remotely.
No subscription fees, just an initial - as yet unconfirmed - purchase price. We hear it should be in the $200-$300 market, but that is just hearsay.
