First unveiled at the Sound & Vision show was high-end professional, business and consumer specialist projectiondesign's latest addition to its range - the Aurora series of home cinema projectors designed to replace the company's existing Action range.
The Aurora Optix, unveiled at the show and due for release in Q2 of this year is capable of 2,500 ANSI lumens and feature pd's Signature Series lenses and will cost between £16,000 and £24,000 depending on lens options and accessories. Eye watering.
The line should be extended with five new models arriving by Q3 including projectiondesign's first three-chip projector with price points ranging from £3,000 to £50,000.

Chord Electronics RED Standard CD player

Check out this futuro industrial masterpiece from Chord Electronics! Available in black or silver, whether you actually like it or not is a moot point, it just looks amazing.
Using Philips' CD Pro2 mechanism carefully housed inside an aluminium support chassis, it combines conventional CD playback with DAC64 conversion technology for the tippest of the toppermost performance.
The disc drawer loads at 45 degrees for simple access even when rack mounted, and is protected by a solenoid-controlled, fluid damped door. Everywhere you look, the spec is of the utmost quality, from the gold-plated phono sockets to the balanced XLR connectors.

Cyrus CD8se CD player

Cyrus is undergoing a spot of evolution - turning its existing CD players into Servo Evolution models. The process spells a wholly new transport mechanism, control circuitry and more, all designed in-house, which is a rarity for any company that isn't the size of Philips or Sony.
Prices and final availability are still to be finalised, but it looks likely that the CD8se (pictured) will cost £1,000, and existing CD8 owners will be able to upgrade for £300.

Denon's Imperial Death Star Blu-ray

Denon's POA-A1 HDCI ten-channel power amp is a beast - with the matching AVP-A1 HDCI 12-channel amp and accompanying DVD-2500BT transport, it's been dubbed the Imperial Death Star Blu-ray.
The processor and power amplifier alone are worth a whopping £10,000, and were part of a jaw-dropping demonstration that also included a £20,000 projectiondesign Aurora projector and £20,000 worth of B&W loudspeaker system. Yum!

Funk Firm Saffire turntable

Funk Firm's duo of keenly priced, excellent turntables is about to be joined by the top of the range £1,900 Saffire turntable (complete with off-board K-Drive motor control) and the extremely clever new ANTI tonearm. This light, yet uber-rigid arm is still in the last stages of development, but looks extremely promising.

Arcam Solo Mini
Price: £650
Arcam's Solo has proved one of the most popular all-in-one hi-fi systems ever. It has spawned clones, as well as Solo Movie 5.1 and 2.1 versions from Arcam itself. Now, the company's taken the basic high-quality CD/tuner/amp concept and shrunk it down to Solo Mini size. Power drops to 25 watts per channel, and the price drops to £650, or £900 with the little Muso speakers.

Chapter Audio Précis Class D integrated amplifier

UK tech-savvy high-enders Chapter Audio announced the latest version of its award-winning Précis Class D integrated amplifier - now with a special JFET analogue output stage and higher output power - sold for £5,295.
It's partnered with the new Sonnet CD player, which is said to feature an ultra low phase noise clock source and a digital filter system that reduces aliased noise products. We don't know what that means, but it sounds impressive and at £3,995, we reckon it must BE impressive, too.
