LG 71PY10 Gold plated 71-inch plasma TV

By Dave Carter

Please note: we can see that this television is quite obviously gold but fear not we will NOT make any references to it being 'blinging'.

In the quest to replicate the experience of cinema viewing at home LG have gone the extra mile - why go out and watch a film on the silver screen when you can watch it at home on the golden screen? The screen itself is a whopping 71in, making it the largest commercially available plasma on the market, complimented by a matching home cinema system and Freeview receiver. Naturally it's all fully HD compatible and features HDMI connectivity, perhaps not so naturally it's coated in 24k gold. As you can see it's quite literally the televisual equivalent of Bobby George, so make of that what you will.

At an astronomical £40-50,000 this is obviously not targeted at the mass market but more as an extravagant luxury or showpiece for display. We all know about LG and Samsung's battle to produce bigger and better screens than each other so, with that in mind, we look forward to seeing Samsung's 75in platinum plated plasma soon…
