HDMI is pretty much
the buzzword in AV at the moment. Manufacturers and tech boffs have all been frantically telling us that if you want the very best from your
HDTV, then it simply must come with one of these digital inputs.
But is one enough? Well, that's what we put to you in our recent poll where we asked how many HDMI inputs you'll need on your next screen.
Ignoring the two percent who don't want any HDMI inputs at all thank you very much (ooh you analogue rebels, you), more than half of you reckon you'll need at least two and interestingly a third of you think that three is the magic number. Considering Sky's HD box, upscaling DVD players and the forthcoming Blu-ray equipped PS3 all require HDMI ports to get the best out of them, one measly socket is almost certainly not going to cut the mustard (unless of course you're partial to a spot of cable swapping).
But hey, if you've bought an HD-ready screen with just the one HDMI port on the back, fear not as there's an increasing range of HDMI switch boxes coming on the market. And like that chubby know-it-all kid from school we'll be on hand with all the answers in our upcoming switchbox group test, so keep your eyes peeled.
For our new poll we've turned our attention to Hi-Fi, and the cost of your components. Have a scroll to the bottom left of this page and get voting!
