At first glance they may seem more post-war lounge than post-millennium pad, but these TVs are no mere exercise in retrophilia - they are in fact part of the new Style LCD TV range from manufacturer HANNspree. And while the designs are shameslessly 1950s, HANNspree has gone back to the future adding an HD Ready spec, HDMI input and fairly nippy 8ms response rate.
Highlights from the Style range include the HANNSlounge LCD TV (pictured left). The HANNSlounge's retro look comes courtesy of a wooden walnut shell, leather effect front-end and polished aluminium alloy, deer-horn shaped stand. The HANNSlounge line-up includes 26in (£679), 32in (£769) and 37in (£999) models.
Another interesting little number is the pop art inspired 32in HANNSvibe LCD TV (pictured right - £729), complete with a black and white oval arch shaped look that cleverly incorporates two detachable speakers with two metres of cable for extra convenience. And so as not to disturb those minimalist curves, both the connections and control panel are completely hidden from view.
While they're probably a little bit too kitsch for most people's tastes (not to mention slightly lacking in the spec department when up against the latest LCD TVs), it's good to see a company taking some design risks and not just trotting out a herd of faceless black/brushed aluminium designs. So good on you, HANNspree.
