While there isn't a sane person alive who could viably claim that the iPod peripherals market isn't stuffed to the point of saturation, it's very much a case of quantity over quality.
Which is why audiophile speaker specialist KEF has launched its iPod pal Picoforte One music system. First impressions are definitely positive too - the gorgeous iPod-white or gloss black finish dominating the two curvaceous 16cm high speakers and hi-fi stack system style dock unit.
The entirely digital system kicks out a meaty 50 watts from its class D amplifier, while the 25-watt speakers replete with 7.5cm mid/bass driver and 15mm aluminium tweeter are enhanced versions of KEF's award-winning KHT Series, featuring its Uni-Q technology.
Compatible with every current model of iPod along with all other MP3 players (using the 3.5mm audio jack), KEF is aiming to storm a market dominated by cheap costing and poor performing kit. There are even connection options to add an additional subwoofer or hook up to your TV via S-Video to watch films.
With components crafted from die-cast zinc for improved sound quality and seemingly no detail left untouched, KEF is certainly approaching the market from a fresh perspective. Due August or September for around £250, we'll certainly be casting an ear over them as soon as possible.
