Yamaha YSP-500, YSP-30D, YSP-40D surround systems

Yamaha YSP-500

Yamaha has announced three new additions to its well-received YSP Digital Sound Projector range. All the boxes offer multichannel surround sound tailored directly to the acoustics of the rooms they are located in.

With the market hotting up after rival products from big players like Denon and Philips, Yamaha is looking to assert its authority with three new models.

With the YSP range there's no need to have wires and additional speakers cluttered around your room as the YSP is unique in producing its sound by using Yamaha's exclusive sound reflecting technology (Intellibeam Automated System Calibration), which automatically calibrates the sound to your room's layout.

All models offer a variety of sound modes for targeted listening experiences alongside the likes of Night Listening Enhancer, which ensures that dialogue or quiet passages aren't missed during low-volume listening and also the TV Equal Volume mode, which prevents sudden bursts of loud sound from TV adverts.

The new 30D and 40D models include DAB digital tuner and iPod compatibility, elevating them to all-round music systems rather than just surround sound for your films and telly.

Available in silver or black, the YSP-500 will set you back £500, the YSP-30D £799 and the YSP-40D a cool £1,200.
