JL Audio Gotham subwoofer

New from JL Audio comes the Gotham powered subwoofer, described by the company as 'our mission statement for home audio, expressed as a product'.

Combining 'extreme audio quality, output capability and craftsmanship', the Gotham is intended for the world's most demanding subwoofer customers.

Each Gotham features a pair of JL's highest technology 13.5in sub drivers, delivering a whopping 4in peak-to-peak excursion envelope. Driving them is a JL Audio-engineered switching amplifier with 3,800-watt output capability ensuring the Gotham performs to its absolute potential.

A full suite of signal processing features is offered on the front including variable slope, variable frequency low-pass filter, variable phase control, polarity switch, extreme low frequency trim control and a fully automatic room equalisation system called ARO.

Each unit takes an entire month to construct, as JL Audio's director of home products Carl Kennedy (not he of Neighbours fame) sums it up, 'The Gotham is squarely aimed at those seeking the ultimate - something that has never been seen or heard before'.

Which could go some way to explaining the sweat-inducing $11,000 price tag.
