Prolific manufacturer of headphones Audio Technica has teamed up with CD player maker Shanling to deliver a double act of sonic delight that will 'help you to get away from it all - in the comfort of your armchair'. Sounds promising.
We kick off with the Shanling CD-T1000se CD player, widely recognised for its 'stunning looks' as well as the 'quality of sound it delivers'. Crafted from smooth aluminium, it sports four protected 6N3 dual triode tubes projecting the sonics of the heavy-duty aluminium housed drive mechanism.
Tasked with matching the Shanling is a set of AT-AD700 open-back hi-fi quality headphones. The Audio Technicas feature large-aperture 53mm drivers with neodymium magnet systems and CCAW voice coils for superior sound reproduction.
To celebrate the collaboration, the Shanling CD player and AT headphones are retailing for £1,600, £100 cheaper than the shelf price as separates (so you're effectively getting the headphones free).
