
It seems the final nail has been well and truly hammered into HD-DVD's coffin with news that Wal-Mart, America's biggest retailer, has announced it is to go Blu-ray only from June this year.
Japanese sources are reporting that Tosh is to cut its frankly enormous losses as the creator and main backer of HD-DVD and cease hardware manufacture imminently.
Although no official decision has been made according to the manufacturer, share prices jumped an impressive six per cent as analysts predicted a positive move in realising the battle is over.
Drawing a tidy parallel, Sony's shares also increased by just over two per cent as the main backer of Blu-ray.
