Bouncing back from its HD DVD U-turn, Toshiba this week hosted its annual product launch and kicked proceedings off with a triumvirate of portable DVD playing action.
First up is the entry-level SDP71 with seven-inch widescreen with 480x234 resolution, contrast ratio of 300:1, 250 cd/m2 brightness and support for DVD, DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/-RW, DivX, JPEG, MP3 and WMA playback.
Battery life is a slated three hours and it comes with carry case and AC adaptor.
Next up is the SD91, sporting a nine-inch 180-degree swivel screen that turns it into a pseudo tablet. It offers a 640x220 resolution with 350:1 contrast ratio, 200 cd/m2 brightness rating and support for the same files as its sibling.
Battery life is touted as five hours and it comes with carry case, AC adaptor and USB connectivity.
Completing the line-up is the quirkier SDP120T, not so much a portable DVD player as an easy to move machine good for carrying room to room or for the boat or, dare we say it, caravan enthusiast.
Arriving in a semi-retro Fifties style design, it has an 11.8in screen with 793x493 resolution, integrated Freeview and 170-degree viewing angle.
It houses a four-in-one card reader compatible with SD, MMC, MS and XD flavours alongside HDMI and component video connectors for hooking up a wealth of peripherals.
There's also a set of headphones, battery pack, AC adaptor and three-hour battery life included for good measure. All three machines will be on sale from April with pricing TBC.
