With the earth barely settling around the coffin of HD DVD, Microsoft's chief exec Steve Ballmer has all but confirmed that the computing giant will now support Blu-ray, the undisputed winner of the next-gen format war.
In a recent statement at Microsoft's Mix08 internet conference, he commented, 'We've already been working on, for example, in Windows, device driver support for Blu-ray drives and the like, and I think the world moves on'. Talk about stoic.
He continues, 'Toshiba has moved on. We've moved on, and we'll support Blu-ray in ways that make sense'.
There was no direct expansion on the whole Xbox360 and Blu-ray add-on debate, but Ballmer's general thinking would lend credence to reports in the Financial Times that Sony's US president has confirmed that they are in talks to sort out a hardware deal for the console.
