Buffalo Technology has announced its first external optical disk drive, a Blu-ray and HD DVD combo drive that can read and write both Blu-ray and HD DVD formats (could be handy if you backed the wrong horse in the last HD race).
It offers single and double layer Blu-ray read/write speed up to 6x; HD DVD write speed up to 3x and DVD read/write speed up to 16x.
Backwards compatible, the drive can play standard DVD formats as well as burn DVD-ROM discs compatible with ordinary DVD players.
Connection is standard plug n play hook up to a PC via USB, with Buffalo's TurboUSB tech speeding things up as well as beefing up security with Secure Lock Ware Software for Windows users. Nero 8 software promises to make burning multimedia software 'a breeze'.
Buffalo's latest goes on sale in late April for a pre-VAT price of £284.
