Apple has announced a deal with almost every major Hollywood film studio, as well as some independents, to release new films for download on its iTunes service the very same day they go on sale on DVD.
Well, it has in the States anyway.
New films and catalogue titles will be available from 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment and First Look Studios. The only major studio missing is MGM.
Prices for the films will be $15, with catalogue titles costing $10.
The films will be available to download to all manner of products, from iPhone to iPod and iTunes compatible media viewers, though the real winner here has to be Apple's TV service, where the content can be watched as intended on a big ol' TV screen.
Annoyingly, there's still no news on if and when we'll be able to receive movie downloads this side of the Pond from Apple.
