It seems that after a year and a half of wrangling and withdrawal from the likes of Lost and 24, a truce may be called between the satellite big guns of BSkyB and Virgin Media that would allow the latter's customers to once again enjoy the former's best TV shows.
Online rumour and reports are suggesting that company bigwigs from both sides are deep in discussion to solve the issues caused when Virgin accused BSkyB of bumping its prices to unreasonable levels.
But with new faces heading up both companies, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
Virgin's Neil Berkett was recently quoted in the Daily Telegraph as saying, 'We are in dialogue. Both Jeremy Darroch [new Sky boss] and myself are saying that we'd like to do a deal. The unfortunate thing is we don't have a conclusion. I'd love to do a deal but we haven't done one yet'.
Not quite as positive as we might wish for, granted, but a step in the right direction at least, especially for Virgin who lost a good number of subscribers loyal to the likes of 24 to Sky.
Virgin is apparently doing just fine though, with new results showing 37,000 new subscribers in Q1, 2008 - figures bound to increase the value of the Virgin Media service rumoured to be going on sale with, among others, a potential buyer mooted as… you guessed it, BSkyB.
Swings and roundabouts indeed.
