There have been a few similar but unsuccessful such devices before, but the new miShare looks set to win out as the gadget that connects two iPods together, sans PC, and allows them to share tunes - even those encrypted with pesky DRM files.
We've actually been aware of this device for a few weeks now, but there are issues over whether it is compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch - it currently isn't but the manufacturers are working on a Firmware upgrade to rectify this.
Otherwise it works with all Mini, Nano, 3G, 4G, Video (5G), and Classic (6G) iPod models. Yet again the Shuffle is left out in the cold.
Sporting dual 30-pin dock connectors, users simply hook up an iPod either side, choose the song or album they want to send over and push the miShare's single button. Simple barely covers it.
Speed isn't great - transfer is about 500kbps, which equates to three or four songs a minute, but massive plus points come as it can copy from a Mac-enabled iPod to a Windows-enabled model, and vice versa.
The DRM issue is also great, as it simply copies to your iPod's disk for the tunes to be unlocked later when you log into iTunes.
Get that iPhone and Touch issue sorted, and this is a truly cracking gadge - especially considering its $100 price tag.
