JBL has launched the Control NOW indoor and Control NOW AW outdoor loudspeakers in good old Blighty.
Configured in a unique 'quarter-round' shape, the idea behind them is that they can be installed in new and interesting positions previously inaccessible to your common or average cuboid speakers.
One particularly cool aspect of the design is that several can be joined together back to back to create a half or full circle speaker for omni-directional sound, which also happens to look very funky especially if you hang them from the ceiling or pole mount them.
When combined in two, three or four speaker arrays, the Control NOWs can also be configured to either single-channel or single-point stereo use to optimise the acoustics of the room, or garden for that matter.
Both the NOW and NOW AW sport tweeters mounted on a patented JBL Bi-Radial horn that promises smooth output and the best sound quality. They have a peak power handling of 300W with 50W continuous, frequency response of 80Hz to 30kHz, nominal impedance of 8ohms with dual four-inch low frequency drivers and titanium laminate shielded three-quarter inch high frequency drivers.
Available from July, the Control NOW indoor arrives in black for £149 and the all-weather Control NOW AW in white for £179. We love the look of them too.
