TEAC has released details of its new hi-fi and home cinema line-up for 2005. Here are some of the highlights from this year's range.
The UX-1 is a multi-purpose SACD, DVD-Audio and DVD-Video player, capable of reading DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD and MP3 discs. It also features a progressive scan mode through a Faroudja processor. The UX-1 is well served with outputs, including one DVI-D digital video, a component video and an RCA coaxial digital audio output.

| DV-50s

Also in the home cinema range is the
DV-50s, another SACD, DVD-Audio and video player. The DV-50s is also able to read DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/RW and MP3 discs, and like the UX-1, it has a progressive scan function. Other features include an ultra-precise VCXO circuit which is said to eliminate jitter during transmission and a high-quality DA converter for two-channel audio.
The X-01 is an SACD and CD player which is also able to read CD-R/RW discs. It has a VRDS-NEO mechanism and a high-precision disc drive system with a magnesium turntable and also features a high-quality DA converter. Like the UX-1 and DV-50s, the X-01 has a 5.1 channel analogue audio output, while also offering XLR, coaxial and optical outputs.

The
PD-H300mkII plays CD and CD-R/RW discs, has an 8x oversampling digital filter and features a 32-track music memory. It has a variety of play modes including shuffle, timer and a three-way repeat function. There is an optical output, but unlike the X-01, there isn't the option for a coaxial connection.
The A-H300mkII stereo amplifier has a power output of 45 watts (at six ohms), and boasts a six-input selector, allowing connections to a tuner, two tape decks, a CD player, a turntable or an auxiliary device. It also features a record selector, balance and tone controls. The A-H300mkII is available for approximately £480.

Tape cassette playback comes courtesy of the R-H300mkII which has full logic transport control, auto reverse record and playback functions and a neat slide loading mechanism. It also features Dolby's B/C/HX Pro noise reduction system for the cleanest possible play back. The R-H300mkII is available for just £130.
The T-H300DABmkII is a DAB and AM/FM tuner with a memory capable of storing ten DAB stations and sixty AM or FM stations. It has a frequency range of 174-240mHz in DAB band III, 522-1620kHz AM and 87.5-108MHz for FM reception. The tuner is available now and costs approximately £480.

| CR-H250
|
Finally, the CR-H250 is a 25-watt CD player and DAB receiver, capable of playing CD and CD-R/RW discs. Other features include a three-way repeat function, a 32-track music memory and a DAB band III, AM and FM stereo tri-band tuner. The CR-H250 also comes with a subwoofer preout and has binding post speaker terminals. The player costs £229.
