Leema Acoustics' Antila CD player has received its second upgrade, following last year's Antila II. This year's update replaces the drive mechanism and servo to create the Antila IIS.
Leema says the upgrade has come about because of new parts and processes becoming available and that as a result jitter is been halved to around 40pS @ 1kHz. New firmware brings additional repeat and shuffle play and as with the Antila II upgrade, this upgrade can be retrofitted for existing Antila owners.
Like its predecessors, the Antila IIS is fully LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System) compliant, with a single press of the play button powering up the accompanying Leema amplifier from standby and selecting the CD input. In a single-source system with Leema's Hydra II power amplifier, the Antila IIS will also control the amplifier's volume via LIPS commands.
The unique MD2 Active Differential Multi-DAC technology employs 20 24bit/192KHz multi-bit Delta-Sigma converters, which Leema claims improves linearity, reducing noise and minimising jitter.
The Leema Antila IIS is on sale now for £2,995. To upgrade the Antila II to IIS is £595 and for basic Antila to IIS is £995.
