Panasonic has announced a firmare update to its DMP-BD10 Blu-ray player, to allow playback of the AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) format.
For those not familiar with AVCHD, it's basically a new high definition recording format introduced by Sony and Panasonic that works with various storage media including recordable DVD discs, hard disks, and SD and Memory Stick Pro memory cards.
Panasonic also has future plans to provide firmware that will allow the DMP-BD10 to decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio, and to upgrade the VIERA Link function to the newer version.
