Pioneer has announced details of its 8th generation of plasmas, comprising six 720p screens and four full HD 1080p sets.
The 720p sets will come in 42in and 52in sizes both with 16,000:1 contrast ratio, while the 1080p models will be available in 50in and 60in with contrast ratio ramped up to 20,000:1. All models come with freeview tuners and detachable speakers.
Pioneer reckons these 8th gen plasmas boast up to 80% better colour reproduction and contrast on previous generations - a bold claim considering the old 7th gen sets were pretty darn fine.
The 720p sets are penciled in for a June release date, the 1080p panels following in September.
