HANNspree XM New York LCD TV

HANNspree XM New York

Occupying a specific niche in the televisual market is HANNspree, a company that specialises in creating design-led and stylistically quirky (rather than novelty) LCD TVs. The first instalment in its new Exquisite Measures (XM) range is the HANNS New York, marrying a low price point with individual design values.

Inspired by the ultra-modern, industrial and mechanical styling so prevalent in New York, the 19in widescreen monitor is housed in a bold black chassis with big silver rivets running down either side of the screen and subtle black grille speakers. The 1440x900 display has a 150-degree viewing angle and 5ms response time, but isn't HD-Ready, which is a shame but not disastrous as the HANNspree is very much a second-room display. The versatile stand tilts, pivots and is height adjustable with cable management, or can be adapted to a wall mount. Delivered with a three-year on-site swap-out manufacturer warranty, the New York retails at £130. The question is, do you want to be a part of it?

Industrial? you can say that again! I think it's awful. It should be relegated to the boiler-room or a mechanic's garage
