Sharp has today announced the launch of no less than five new digital Hi-Vision recorders to its Japanese market, with storage capacities ranging from a respectable 250GB to a frankly obscene 1TB.
Details are a little thin on the ground for these standard-def disc spinners (hey, give us a break, the press release was in Japanese!), but there are some tidbits sure to whet the appetite.
The range-topping DV-ACW80 features that massive one terabyte memory alongside the world's fastest start-up time of 0.8s, high-speed infrared (IrSS), 10bit/148.5MHz image DAC and a negligible footprint at only 434x343x68mm.
Due in Japan this August alongside the DV-ACW80 are the 500GB DV-ACW75 and 250GB DV-ACW72. Following on in September will be the 500GB DV-AC75 and 250GB DV-AC72. Prices are looking like they'll range from €500-1,200, we'll keep you posted as to when they'll be headed our way.
