Audio solutions expert KEF is now shipping its latest product crusading against the tyranny of metres and metres of cabling.
The KHT5005.2 Wireless Transmission Home Cinema System, designed specifically to accompany the KEF Home Theatre 5000 Series, delivers claimed CD quality audio thanks to the system's 'intelligent' interference free signal technology.
In no hurry to get a middle of the range product into the marketplace, KEF has taken its time to develop what it thinks is something special. Using 2.4GHz wireless transmission technology that uses the most advanced error protection and sophisticated adaptive frequency hopping around, the signal between amp and speakers should remain interference free. No pesky wobbles from the likes of your microwave or LAN routers then.
The 5000 Series Wireless can be bought as an upgrade of two receivers and transmitter for existing owners for £400; as a pair of wireless speakers with integral receivers including transmitter for £700; or as a full 5.1 system with wireless rears and single transmitter for £1,600.
Certainly not the cheapest wireless set-up on the market, but as KEF states, this is about achieving audiophile quality without compromising on aesthetics. And we like it.
