Quirky yet brilliant speaker specialist Audio Pro has launched the 'Porto', a leather-clad portable music system custom-designed for any iPod or MP3 player.
Looking like a colour co-ordinated Cyberman from Doctor Who, but with an iPod jammed in its bonce, the Porto is a lightweight and 'genuinely portable' music system that's as well specified as it is odd.
It apparently employs 'EmbracingSound' technology to generate size-defying levels of sound quality, volume and bass weight with stereo imaging and a big, big sound.
Twin 38mm aluminium tweeters and an oblong aluminium bass driver are powered individually by three dedicated class D amplifiers, which are fuelled in turn by a high-power, long-life rechargeable battery.
A series of bundled adapters ensure your Pod of choice is easily accommodated, with two 3.5mm stereo line level inputs for other source components, plus an S-Video output, subwoofer line output so you can hook up an extra active sub and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The integrated FM RDS tuner and basic Pod functions can be controlled from the fascia buttons or the credit card style remote.
Battery life is a touted eight hours, and the Porto is available clad in red and black leather from this September for £250. Kinky.
