Quirky speaker specialist Fatman - the good folk that brought us the excellent iTube Valve Dock - is about to launch 'the mother of all vacuum amplifiers' in the shape of the Mothership.
Pumping out a pant-wetting 200W per channel, the Mothership is Fatman's flagship amplification system, consisting of the iTube Controlroom preamp and a pair of iTube Engineroom monoblocks.
The class A vacuum tube preamp Controlroom operates as the system brains, boosting source levels to dizzying heights that befit the monstrous dual Enginerooms, each equipped with six premium quality valves and only the best componentry.
With this level of quality, matching the Mothership to an iPod seems borderline obscene, but Fatman is realistic in this respect catering to that end while 'respectfully suggesting' Lossless maybe the most appropriate format for such a slice of kit.
Arriving from the Fat Farm in September, 'Big Mutha' as James Roth of Fatman calls it, will retail for £5,000.
