Several of Brit manufacturer PURE's latest products have been heavily branded under its EcoPlus banner, and at last the company has let us know exactly what this involves.
EcoPlus sets the standard within PURE for reduced power consumption, use of materials from recycled and sustainable resources, packaging size and use of components with minimised environmental impact.
All EcoPlus product packaging will show in graphical form the product's standby and operational power compared to the industry average in order to highlight the reductions the company has made.
Packaging is made from cardboard produced with a minimum 70 per cent recycled material and finished using water-based varnish. Internal pulp trays are 100 per cent recycled, as are all user documents, which are also printed with Soya-based inks. Package sizing has been minimised too, to reduce waste materials and lessen the environmental cost of transport.
All current PURE battery-operated radios now use the ChargePAK rechargeable battery eliminating the need for alkaline battery disposal and all PURE products conform to the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standard.
Current models fully integrated into the EcoPlus range include the EVOKE-1S, TEMPUS-1S and Chronos iDock, with the EVOKE-3, EVOKE-2, Oasis, ONE, PocketDAB 1500, Move, Chronos CD, Elan DX-40 and Elan RV-40 all being re-engineered in time for Christmas to meet the relevant criteria. As 'they' say, every little helps.
