French king of the portable entertainment market Archos is apparently preparing to launch Archos TV+, a set-top Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia PVR style gadget destined for a life under the telly in your lounge.
Set to rival entertainment hubs like Apple TV and its many counterparts, Archos TV+ will allow content to be streamed from PC, record programmes direct from TV and access and surf the web.
It will, of course, also be entirely compatible with fifth generation Archos PMPs so content can be transferred back and forth between the two.
Playback file support has been listed as MP3, MP4, WMV, H.264, WMA and WAV and all common image formats. Connectivity will be of the 802.11g flavour for Wi-Fi, with Ethernet, USB 2.0, S-Video and crucially HDMI ports for standard hook-up.
No fixed date on a UK release yet, but it will be on show at CES in Las Vegas at the start of next year when we will bring you more.
Pricing looks to be around £170 for the 80GB model and £240 for the 250GB daddy.
